Mix Together
- 1 package devil’s food cake mix
- 1 small package chocolate instant pudding mix
- 4 large eggs
- 1½ cups water
- ½ cup vegetable oil
Pour half the batter into a greased Bundt pan, sprinkle on 1 cup of chocolate chips, and then pour on the rest of the batter. Bake at 350 for 50–60 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in the pan. Then remove to a serving plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
VARIATION: Chocolate Sheet Cake

Sift Together
- 3 cups flour
- 2½ cups sugar
- ¾ teaspoon baking powder
- 2½ teaspoons baking soda
- 2/3 cup cocoa
- 1½ teaspoons salt
Add In
- 1 cup softened margarine or oil
- 1½ cups water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Beat for 2 minutes. Add 3 eggs and beat an additional 2 minutes. Pour into greased and floured 13″ x 9″ pan and bake at 350° for 1 hour. Serve with or without frosting.
Glenda’s Comments
This Bundt cake is the Ullmans’ recipe and was frequently Carrie’s birthday cake. It is simple, moist, and needs no frosting.
The second is Bubbe’s recipe. She liked simple, one-step recipes.
